PRO-NET Launches First-Ever DC Charging Hub in Tanjung Malim

PRO-NET Opens First DC Charging Hub with Fast, App-Free Charging at RM0.40/kWh – 50% Off for First Month

Tanjung Malim, 30 September 2025 – Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET), a subsidiary of PROTON, today launched its first DC Charging Hub at PROTON Tanjung Malim. Located at the administration building, the hub is equipped with two DC chargers and four charging bays, delivering a combined station output power 120kW and allowing four EVs to charge at once. Unlike previous facilities operated through third-party providers, this is PROTON’s first standalone charging infrastructure, managed by PRO-NET. The move demonstrates PROTON’s capability to run its own charging network, independent of existing charge point operators (CPOs), ensuring greater control over affordability, accessibility, and user experience.

The charging hub is open to all EV owners, regardless of brand, following the approval of the ST EVCS License. By making the facility inclusive, PRO-NET aims to encourage the use of electric vehicles while supporting the wider development of Malaysia’s charging network.

“This charging hub is a significant step forward for us, not just as a facility but as part of our commitment to build a stronger EV ecosystem for Malaysia. By keeping the service affordable and simple to use, we hope to make EV adoption more appealing for everyone. Tanjung Malim is where PRO-NET’s story began, so it is fitting for us to also start this new chapter here,” said Mr. Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET.

Seamless, Affordable, and App-Free Charging
The launch also marks PRO-NET’s first standalone charging infrastructure. It serves as a proof-of-concept for app-free charging, allowing customers to simply scan a QR code and access a web-based interface to start charging and make payment. At the same time, Proton e.MAS and smart owners will continue to enjoy the option of using the e.MAS app and Hello smart app, both of which are fully integrated with the system.

In line with its mission to make EV ownership more practical and affordable, PROTON has set the charging rate at RM0.80 per kWh, one of the lowest in the country. To celebrate the launch, all users will enjoy a 50% discount for the first month of operation, bringing the fee down to just RM0.40 per kWh from 1st until 31st October 2025.

Tanjung Malim as Malaysia’s EV Hub
The launch of the charging hub further cements Tanjung Malim’s role as the heart of PRO-NET’s electrification journey. With the new EV production plant set to begin operations soon, the facility will not only assemble Malaysia’s first locally produced EVs but also generate new jobs, nurture local talent, and support the growth of a robust EV ecosystem that positions Tanjung Malim as the nation’s hub for electric mobility.
