The Proton e.MAS 5 Connected with Communities in Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang from 5–7 September Across 3 Showrooms and 9 Popular Destinations
SHAH ALAM, 15 September 2025 - Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET), a subsidiary of PROTON, has successfully wrapped up the third leg of its nationwide MISI 5 Tour, this time connecting with communities across the East Coast states of Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang.
From 5–7 September, the Proton e.MAS 5 was showcased at three (3) showrooms and nine (9) popular destinations, attracting strong turnout from families and first-time EV seekers. Among the highlights were stops at Gerbang Kota Sultan Ismail Petra in Kelantan, Pasar Payang in Terengganu, and Pantai Teluk Cempedak in Kuantan, Pahang, where the Proton e.MAS 5 met Malaysians in their everyday settings.
The response at dealer showrooms was equally encouraging, with many eager to view the latest Proton e.MAS line-up and learn more about electric mobility. Many visitors were surprised by how accessible EV ownership has become. For most, it was their first time experiencing an EV up close, with feedback ranging from “EV cars are usually expensive, but the price of Proton e.MAS 5 is really practical” to appreciation of the EV’s versatility.
East Coast Community Perspective on Proton e.MAS 5
During the showroom visit at Proton e.MAS Kuala Terengganu (Indahsari NEV), Adam, who is also based in Kuala Terengganu shared: “The Proton e.MAS 5 looks sporty on the outside, but inside it’s very spacious with good legroom. The interior feels futuristic and stylish and suitable for women, and for young people in their 20s and 30s.”
Meanwhile, Ahmad Ruzaini, who attended the showroom visit at Proton e.MAS Kota Bharu (JM Otomobil NEV), shared his thoughts when asked about usage of EVs in East Coast region:
“It feels futuristic and would be great to see more EVs in the East Coast. With more charging points here, I think adoption will be faster because it’s cost-saving. For me, as someone retiring, it’s simple enough for daily use, going to the masjid, market, and so on. I also like that the car has great features on tech, and even Malay voice commands with ‘Hi Proton’ is exciting.”
Other visitors noted that the Proton e.MAS 5 is a practical second car for families, with some existing Proton e.MAS 7 owners expressing interest in adding one to their household. Many also highlighted confidence in using the EV for long-distance trips such as Kota Bharu–Kuala Lumpur, with planned charging stops in Gua Musang making the journey feasible.
Puan Salawati Yusoff, Chief Branding Officer of PRO-NET, said: “The East Coast communities welcomed us with warmth and genuine curiosity. Many families shared that they had never seen an EV up close before and were surprised to learn that the Proton e.MAS 5 is priced below RM100,000, a figure they did not expect for an electric car. “We saw strong family-oriented interest, from men considering the car for their wives and children, to retirees who found the car simple and practical for daily trips to the market or mosque. This tells us that the e.MAS 5 is not just a city car, but one that fits seamlessly into everyday Malaysian life.”
MISI 5 Heads South – Johor, from 13 – 14 September and Melaka & Negeri Sembilan on 20 September
With the East Coast leg completed, the MISI 5 Tour now heads to the Southern Region, bringing the Proton e.MAS 5 to Johor, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka.
