Electrify Your Life Campaign Launches to Accelerate EV Adoption Nationwide
SERDANG, 8 May 2025 – PRO-NET, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PROTON, is making a significant impact at the largest auto show in the country, the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, happening from 9th to 15th May at MAEPS Serdang. PRO-NET will be showcasing its electric vehicle (EV) leadership with an impressive lineup side by side with PROTON, marking the national automaker as more innovative, sustainable, and forward-looking than ever.
Headlining PRO-NET’s showcase, was the latest addition to the e.MAS family. Clad in a striking camouflaged wrap, the car drew strong attention from visitors eager to glimpse the next chapter of PRO-NET’s electrification journey.
Proton Unveils the e.MAS 5 as a Youthful Step Forward in Malaysia’s EV Journey
In a special unveiling ceremony for media, Mr. Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET, officially announced the name of the company’s newest EV model, the Proton e.MAS 5. Slated for launch in Q4 2025, the e.MAS 5 is aimed at younger drivers and first-time EV buyers, promising to make electric mobility more affordable, stylish, and effortless for a new generation of Malaysians. This initiative aligns with the government's National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), which aims for 80% of new vehicle sales to be electrified vehicles (xEVs) by 2050, and supports Malaysia's broader goals of fostering a robust EV ecosystem and encouraging the public to embrace sustainable mobility solutions.
Reflecting the naming convention of the brand, the “5” signals its position as a more compact model compared to the e.MAS 7, which was designed as a C-segment SUV. While smaller in size, the e.MAS 5 delivers the same intelligence and forward-thinking design that define the Proton e.MAS lineup.
Mr. Zhang remarked, “Proton e.MAS 5 represents our vision for the newest era of electric mobility, one that’s built for the next generation of Malaysians, shaping a future that’s smarter, greener, and more exhilarating. While the e.MAS 7 was designed to cater to the needs of Malaysian families, the e.MAS 5 on the other hand, offers a more youthful, exciting and electrifying driving experience.”
Electrify Your Life Campaign Launch
In conjunction with the name reveal, PRO-NET also launched the nationwide "Electrify Your Life" Campaign and Contest, an initiative designed to accelerate EV adoption across the country. Today's event also marked the closing ceremony of the ASEAN Unity Drive, the historic cross-border EV tour across Southeast Asia. Organised by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), and supported by PRO-NET as the main sponsor, the drive began in Jakarta on 22 April 2025.
Featuring the e.MAS 7 alongside the Proton X50 and X70, the convoy journeyed through nine ASEAN capitals, including Hanoi in Vietnam, Vientiane in Laos, Manila in the Philippines, Phnom Penh in Cambodia, Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei, Bangkok in Thailand, Singapore before finally concluding in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
