Spaciousness, advanced safety features and brand confidence are among the reasons why customers chose the Proton e.MAS 7
Subang Jaya, 18 April 2025 – It’s official: the Proton e.MAS 7 is Malaysia’s No. 1 electric vehicle for the third consecutive month, maintaining its leadership position since January 2025. With over 5,500 bookings since the order-taking began and more than 1,800 units delivered, the e.MAS 7 is not just a market leader—it’s a national success story.
From the start, the e.MAS 7 has struck a chord with Malaysian buyers. The SUV’s smart combination of practical features, cutting-edge tech, and outstanding value for money has made it one of the most talked-about EVs in the country.
During the recent Proton e.MAS Pioneers Hari Raya Open House organised by PRO-NET, a subsidiary of national carmaker PROTON, the early adopters expressed their delight in owning the e.MAS 7. Customers cited spacious cabin comfort, generous boot space, and advanced safety technologies as their top reasons for choosing the e.MAS 7. Many also pointed to their trust in the Proton brand and its commitment to quality as key factors in their decision. Owning an e.MAS 7 also instilled national pride.
“The e.MAS 7’s success shows what’s possible when we combine global EV expertise with deep local insight. We’ve introduced a vehicle that reflects the needs and aspirations of Malaysian drivers—practical, high-performing, and ready for everyday life,” said Mr Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET. This is just the beginning of Proton’s journey in shaping the nation’s EV landscape.
Developed Globally, Refined for Malaysian Roads
Built on a platform designed to suit local driving conditions, the Proton e.MAS 7 combines strong performance with thoughtful convenience. Its 160kW electric motor delivers 320Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds to make city-driving a breeze. A top speed of 175 km/h ensures ample power for highway cruising.
The vehicle’s advanced 12-in-1 drive unit has undergone over 100,000 km of local road testing, ensuring durability in Malaysia’s diverse terrains and climate. It’s paired with next-gen AEGIS Short Blade battery technology, enabling ultra-fast charging from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes. A quick 10-minute DC charge offers 135 km of additional range—ideal for mid-journey pit stops.
Durability is a strong point too: the battery retains 90.5% health after 921 full charge cycles, equivalent to 400,000 km of usage.
Spacious, Stylish, and Premium Inside
With a 2,750mm wheelbase and flat cabin floor, the e.MAS 7 provides best-in-class interior space. The SUV features ventilated, fully reclinable front seats, two-step reclining rear seats, and 33 creative storage compartments—including a hidden 14L underseat compartment for valuables. Boot space is a generous 1,888L with the rear seats folded, plus a 51L underfloor storage tub.
Premium features include 256-colour ambient lighting, and a 1,000W 16-speaker Flyme audio system with WANOS surround sound and headrest speakers for the driver—features often seen in more premium marques and models.
Technology That Enhances Every Drive
The e.MAS 7’s tech-laden cockpit includes a 15.4” 2.5K central touchscreen and a 10.2” LCD digital instrument cluster, both powered by the responsive Flyme Auto OS. A windshield Head-Up Display (HUD) projects key driving info into the driver’s line of sight—another class-exclusive.
Connectivity is seamless through the Proton e.MAS App, which links to over 2,300 public charging points nationwide, including 75 DC fast-chargers at PROTON, Proton e.MAS and smart dealerships. Users can search, navigate to, start and stop charging, and pay for charging fees all from within the app.
Safety Comes First
The e.MAS 7 has earned a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP rating, scoring 92.57 points and leading in both adult and child occupant protection. The vehicle features six airbags, Intelligent and Adaptive Cruise Control, a 360° camera system, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
To ensure long-term reliability, the battery has passed PROTON’s “6-Devil” test—subjected to fire, flood, freeze, crush, scrape and crash scenarios. A Crash Safety Power-Off System disconnects the high-voltage system in the event of a collision, while a water-wading depth of 400mm makes it well-equipped to handle Malaysian flash floods and rural roads alike.
